BWO Blog is a collection of essays and poetry that examine the ways that blackness, whiteness, and otherness intersect with all that is mystical and mundane in the human experience— a collection of responses to the questions women of color are asked a lot and also not nearly enough in predominantly white spaces—What it is it like for you here, in this place, on this planet, at this particular moment in time?

BWO Blog is a practice of combating the white supremacy that lives inside me (us) by valuing process as much as product, refusing “one right way” of being a writer, and divesting from an exclusively capitalist measure of success for the otherwise holy gifts of art and labor. This is a space for reflections which are non-binary/diunital without necessarily being centrist and convicted without necessarily being “right”.

BWO Blog is a ritual in keeping with the natural and supernatural rhythms of life—construction, deconstruction, reconstruction. It is a starting over and an opportunity to watch the divine miracle of word becoming flesh, week after week. Send me a word to re-vision and together we will create something new.

Kerri Fisher is a writer, speaker, and educator.
Kerri Fisher is a creative non-fiction writer and poet who explores black and biracial identity in the American South. Her work has been recognized by the Writer's League of Texas, The Collegeville Institute, and The Mayborn Literary Non-Fiction Conference. Her poetry has been featured in Apricity Magazine and The MockingHeart Review.
Kerri is also a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Social Work Educator, and regularly invited speaker on topics including cultural humility, intersectionality, supremacy culture, and anti-oppressive practices.
